With the advent of tablet PCs and Netbooks, there is no way one can predict what is going to be the gadget of the future. Technology advances so fast that gadgets released yesterday become obsolete today.
One of the visions of the future is to build a completely transparent screen for laptops. This has been around the news for quite some time. Although it may appear ridiculous, its definitely a technology to reckon with.
As a gadget-lover, I am proud to say that SONY is on the verge of a breakthrough in creating such awesome transparent screens. As you can see in the picture beside, it looks promising. But, as designers, we find a ways to mimic almost everything. Technology is not at all an exception.
Move aside SONY, we designers have our own way to make our laptop screens transparent. Well, it is fun and awesome. In this article, I will show some really cool examples of desktop and laptop screens which seem to be “transparent” but it is just a clever manipulation of a photograph. It is a very skilled procedure to make it look exactly real. A little bit of adjustments in the lighting conditions and some contrast values is sure to get the transparent screen up and running. It is also a clever way to fool your friends :)
